The landscape is a graphic design by Meerim Ismailova, who has designed for\u003cbr\u003eour partner workshop, Tumar, for more than 10 years. Her design is printed with water-\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ebased pigment inks, then cut into separate elements and layered by hand: lyocell for the\u003cbr\u003emountains, cotton for the sky.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat holds the blanket together is a middle layer of wool. The artisans soak the stack in\u003cbr\u003esoapy water, smooth it by hand to push out the air, then roll it and felt it for three hours.\u003cbr\u003eThey unroll it again and again to check that every inch has bonded. Two people work on\u003cbr\u003eeach blanket. Machines can’t do this yet, because only hand felting gives full control\u003cbr\u003eover how the wool bonds across the whole surface. Each blanket is then dried, cleaned,\u003cbr\u003eand finished by sewing the edges.
