The barefoot idea
Most of the day, our shoes decide for us.
Conventional shoes decide where feet bend, how much space toes get and how the sole meets the ground. Barefoot design hands the decisions back: let toes spread for balance, arches flex and the small muscles of the foot join in, while a layer still protects you from cold, damp or dirty floors.
A flat, level profile
The Wides use a true zero-drop mold for a flat heel-to-toe stance, so you stand the way you would with nothing on at all, grounded and even.
A thin, flexible sole
Less structure telling your feet what to do, and more freedom to move. A pliable sole lets the foot roll and respond, closer to the feeling of going barefoot.

The craft
Made in a women-led studio in Bishkek.
The Wides are rolled and felted by hand using traditional techniques. The Slides are machine-made from wool felt at Tumar in Bishkek. Both use Kyrgyz semi-rough heritage sheep wool from small family-run farms, with short fibers that make a dense, durable felt.
Wool has clothed the Asian steppe for centuries because it works: warm in winter, breathable in summer, and naturally moisture-wicking. It doesn’t fray or pill, and it gently molds to your foot with wear.

Wool felt gives a little and molds to your foot with wear. If you’re between sizes, order up for the roomiest barefoot feel.
Room for your Toes
A wide toe box gives your toes space to spread naturally. Look for a comfortable fit with room to wiggle, without your toes feeling squeezed. Built on a wide, flat mold that accommodates orthotic insoles.
They break in with you
Felt softens and shapes to your foot as you wear it, so the fit only gets more personal over time.

What actually makes these “barefoot”?
Three design choices: a wider toe box so toes can spread, a flat heel-to-toe profile so you stand level, and a thin, flexible sole that lets your foot move. It’s less structure telling your feet what to do, and more room to move naturally.
Slides or Wides: which should I choose?
Choose the Slides for an easy slip-on with a wider toe box and a slight big-toe rise. Choose the Wides for a true zero-drop, wide-and-flat fit with a chrome-free leather suede sole that welcomes orthotic insoles.
What are they made of?
Both have wool felt uppers made from Kyrgyz heritage sheep wool, water and vegetable-based soap. The Wides have a chrome-free, vegetable-tanned suede sole and are fully biodegradable. The Slides have a vegetable-tanned leather sole and a wool felt footbed over a layer of OrthoLite foam for extra softness. OrthoLite is a polyurethane foam, so the Slides are not fully biodegradable.
How should they fit if I’m between sizes?
Order up. Wool felt has a little give and molds to your foot with wear, so sizing up keeps the roomy, barefoot feel. Our Barefoot styles also fit orthotic insoles if you use them.
Are they warm or too warm?
Wool regulates temperature: warm in winter, breathable in summer, and naturally moisture-wicking. As one wearer put it, “Great temperature regulation! No more sweaty feet.”
