Description
Kyrgies Slides
Go low-key stylish this summer with our lightest and coolest pair of Kyrgies yet. The same all-natural wool from the same sustainable sources: this time they’re perfect for keeping your feet snug but still fresh on warm days.
Available in six gorgeously summery colors and lovingly handmade by our artisans in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, our Kyrgies Slides are part of a felting tradition dating back thousands of years. Made from two pieces of felt that are cut and sewn together, they’re a summertime take on our classic Tengries. Expect all the comfort, just with a looser fit and slightly thinner felt that’ll keep your feet cool.
Wool might not sound like the perfect match for hotter days, but hear us out. Both odor resistant and moisture wicking, it’ll work a type of magic. Not only will your feet stay cool and dry — even when the temperature creeps up — but the wool will help you avoid any unpleasant odors, too.
Are these house shoes as sustainable as the rest of the Kyrgies range?
We’re proud to say they are! As a company, we’re concerned about what goes into the manufacturing processes of our house shoes and, as a result, onto our bodies. It’s for this very reason why all of our Kyrgies are chemical free and use vegetable tanned leather soles rather than the highly toxic chromium normally employed in the tanning process.
Our commitment to low-impact and socially-responsible fashion doesn’t end there, though. All of our wool is sourced from small, family-owned flocks, while our factory in Kyrgyzstan pays fair wages to all its staff. We also work closely with a range of nonprofits and environmental movements to ensure our net impact is positive. Product Care
Our leather or felt-soled products are designed primarily for indoor comfort. While they can be worn outside, they are not intended for outdoor conditions.
For those who prefer outdoor use, our rubber-soled slippers are a suitable option. They're capable of outdoor wear but are not as robust as heavy-duty outdoor footwear. We recommend avoiding heavy rain or puddles with these as well.
Our slippers are crafted from wool felt, a material that is sensitive to water. Wool felt can lose its shape when wet, so machine washing is strongly discouraged. To keep your Kyrgies in top condition, we advise spot cleaning with a damp cloth and lukewarm water, followed by air drying. Dry cleaning is also a viable care option.

Our leather soled products use vegetable tanned leather soles rather than the highly toxic chromium normally employed in the tanning process. Our rubber soled products use natural latex that has been vulcanized to increase durability.

FAQ
Does Kyrgies fit true to size?
Kyrgies come in European sizes. We have created conversions to US sizing based on extensive feedback from our customers over the years. Generally speaking, we suggest you follow our conversion. If you are in between sizes, we suggest that you order up.
If you have a low volume foot, adding a pair of insoles to your order is a good way to get the correct length and without the slipper feeling too wide and roomy. For detailed information about sizing, please refer to our sizing guide on this page.
If you do find that your slipper doesn't fit perfectly, our returns policy means you can quickly and easily swap for the size you need.
Can I throw my Kyrgies in the wash?
We don’t recommend it. All Kyrgies are made from felted wool and can easily shrink or lose their shape in the washing machine. It can also cause the leather soles on certain styles to bleed. If your Kyrgies are looking a little dirty, try spot cleaning with a dry brush, or if necessary, a gentle wool-friendly detergent and a damp cloth. Dry cleaning is also an option.
If the worst happens and you have an accident with bacon grease or similar (yup, we've all done it), a trip to your local dry cleaners should return your shoes to new.
Can I wear my Kyrgies outside?
Unfortunately, any showcasing of your brand new slippers should take place inside the home. Kyrgies are designed to face the Great Indoors; wearing them out on the drive, pottering around the garage or roaming around the garden will only lead to misshapen wool felt for your shoes and bitter disappointment for you. Seriously, keep them indoors.
Our Tengries Walkabouts for men and women have rubberized soles that are created specifically for outdoor wear. These soles are durable and can be worn outside extensively. They can even be worn in cold snowy conditions. We still don't recommend getting your wool felt uppers very wet. They will absorb water and slush and won't be very cozy at that point.
Bringing the Ancient Power of Wool Felt to Your Home
We create products for people that care about where their clothing comes from. People that also consider their homes to be a special place and look forward to the ritual of arriving home, taking off outdoor shoes, and embracing their Kyrgies.
Handmade
Handmade in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, a mountainous region of peaks and fertile valleys, Kyrgies embody the ancient, essential connection between the sheep that roam the hillsides and the Kyrgyz people that raise them for their wool.
Always Sustainable
Our factory's ability to produce wool felt is legendary. This can be attributed to the skill and love that the artisans give to their work. Every pair of Kyrgies that is produced is touched by the hands of many Kyrgyz artisans. From the sheep shearer to the quality control expert that signs off on every pair.
