Kyrgies Woven Wool Slippers
Our softest slippers yet, Kyrgies Wovens are made from thick, handspun wool yarn using traditional rug-weaving techniques. Lightweight and flexible, they pack easily for travel and mold comfortably to your feet.

Handmade by a women’s cooperative in the Alay Valley of southern Kyrgyzstan, these slippers are naturally moisture-wicking, odor-resistant, and ideal for wider or more sensitive feet. With a cozy feel and slightly higher back, they’re your perfect companion for comfort at home, or wherever life takes you.

How are these made?

We are glad you asked. We've created two videos that show the process in detail.

Product Care

Our leather or felt-soled products are designed primarily for indoor comfort. While they can be worn outside, they are not intended for outdoor conditions.

For those who prefer outdoor use, our rubber-soled slippers are a suitable option. They're capable of outdoor wear but are not as robust as heavy-duty outdoor footwear. We recommend avoiding heavy rain or puddles with these as well.

Our slippers are crafted from wool felt, a material that is sensitive to water. Wool felt can lose its shape when wet, so machine washing is strongly discouraged. To keep your Kyrgies in top condition, we advise spot cleaning with a damp cloth and lukewarm water, followed by air drying. Dry cleaning is also a viable care option.

Sustainability & Craftsmanship

Are these house shoes as sustainable as the rest of the Kyrgies range

We’re proud to say they are! As a company, we’re concerned about what goes into the manufacturing processes of our house shoes and, as a result, onto our bodies. Our leather soled products use vegetable tanned leather soles rather than the highly toxic chromium normally employed in the tanning process. Our rubber soled products use natural latex that has been vulcanized to increase durability.

Our commitment to low-impact and socially-responsible fashion doesn’t end there, though. All of our wool is sourced from small, family-owned flocks, while our factory in Kyrgyzstan pays fair wages to all its staff. We also work closely with a range of nonprofits and environmental movements to ensure our net impact is positive. Find out more about our commitment to sustainability here.

FAQ

Does Kyrgies fit true to size?

Kyrgies come in European sizes. We have created conversions to US sizing based on extensive feedback from our customers over the years. Generally speaking, we suggest you follow our conversion. If you are in between sizes, we suggest that you order up.

If you have a low volume foot, adding a pair of insoles to your order is a good way to get the correct length and without the slipper feeling too wide and roomy. For detailed information about sizing, please refer to our sizing guide on this page

If you do find that your slipper doesn't fit perfectly, our returns policy means you can quickly and easily swap for the size you need.

Can I throw my Kyrgies in the wash?

We don’t recommend it. All Kyrgies are made from felted wool and can easily shrink or lose their shape in the washing machine. It can also cause the leather soles on certain styles to bleed. If your Kyrgies are looking a little dirty, try spot cleaning with a dry brush, or if necessary, a gentle wool-friendly detergent and a damp cloth. Dry cleaning is also an option.

If the worst happens and you have an accident with bacon grease or similar (yup, we've all done it), a trip to your local dry cleaners should return your shoes to new.

Can I wear my Kyrgies outside?

Unfortunately, any showcasing of your brand new slippers should take place inside the home. Kyrgies are designed to face the Great Indoors; wearing them out on the drive, pottering around the garage or roaming around the garden will only lead to misshapen wool felt for your shoes and bitter disappointment for you. Seriously, keep them indoors.

Our Tengries Walkabouts for men and women have rubberized soles that are created specifically for outdoor wear. These soles are durable and can be worn outside extensively. They can even be worn in cold snowy conditions. We still don't recommend getting your wool felt uppers very wet. They will absorb water and slush and won't be very cozy at that point.

Best things ever

Literally the best things I ever had on my feet. I can't live without them.

I've had them for 4 years, I wear them basically any time I'm home with little exception, and they ate better than ever, I've never washed them, and they don't smell at all.

Miracle slippers.

Barefoot but with protection!

These felt a little scratchy at first but my feet have adjusted to them. The right foot didn't feel as comfortable as the left initially either but I gave it time and have walked around the house in them plenty. They have loosen, or the right one anyway and now they are totally comfortable and my favorite of the ones I've tried over the last several years. I like the barefoot feel so that my feet stay strong. Most people don't realize that all that padding around tennis shoes isn't helping maintain foot strength. I've started buying barefoot shoes and zero drop shoes recommended by my son the physical trainer. These are well made examples of a barefoot style slipper. I love the sole which are stitched far better than the last wool slippers I tried. I was little hesitant that my foot wouldn't slide in easily without bending down to open one side but that is not a problem at all. I can easily slip my feet in them like any other slipper. I love them!! The one thing I do know with any wool slipper is being careful with them when they get wet. Let them dry completely before trying to wear them again.

Comfy…I Had to Size Down

I’m giving them 5 stars because they are very comfy once you get the right size. I have really small feet and had to size down as my normal size was too big in the ankle and I just walked out of them. The exchange process was very easy and free so thank you Kyrgies. I like that my feet don’t sweat when wearing these in the warm climate I live in. Also, I’m a barefoot shoes wearer so I like that these are just simply flat. Don’t buy these if you need support.

Cute but too small

These are super cute. I always wear a 39, or an 8 1/2. I got these in a 39 and they are definitely too small. My toes are squeeze into the front of the shoes and they hurt. The other size 39 that I got in the boot style fits fine.
